UMD Dining Center

University of Minnesota Duluth Dining Center Remodel

In collaboration with the University, ARI designed a remodel for the existing Resident Dining Center to improve functionality, customer flow, and interior design. Along with the functional priorities, such as space needs, security, and after-hour accessibility, connecting the Dining Center with the surrounding community and University culture was important in the completion of this remodel.

ARI’s design process includes the analysis of the surrounding community and taking design elements from the culture and incorporating them into the design. One way of incorporating the surrounding culture was to implement sustainable design elements throughout the space. Mechanical systems include new heating and ventilation, along with a temperature control system. LED lighting and occupancy sensors make for an energy-efficient electrical system.
