Range Regional Airport Hibbing Terminal Expansion Project
ARI teamed up with RS&H to complete Range Regional Airport's Terminal Expansion Project. ARI was responsible for the interior design portion of the project, which aimed to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for guests. The Interior Design scope of work consisted of interior finishes and furnishings for terminal public areas, including lobbies, waiting areas, ticketing area, boarding lounge (hold-room), TSA passenger screening area, baggage claim area, rental car counter area, and vestibules. ARI's Interior Designers focused on incorporating materials to tell the story of the Iron Range.
The exterior of the building is clad with a combination of metal panels that mimic the feel of steel and natural taconite stone collected from local mining sites.
Interior finish selections were based on the Iron Range's natural environment, including glass with green grass blades, natural wood elements, metallic tiles and exposed steel columns. As one enters the interior of the building, they are welcomed by a floor pattern designed to represent the iron ore mines, the cool blue waters of the summer and the ice and snow that cover our land during the winter months.
