FOND DU LAC LANGUAGE & CULTURAL CENTER
The Design of the Fond du Lac Language and Cultural Center incorporated the use of natural materials, large amounts of daylight, and an exposed wooden structure that is emphasized throughout the building's interior and exterior. ARI commissioned local Ojibwe artist Sarah Agaton Howes to provide insight into the cultural elements influencing the design, and provided the exterior with an original art piece that is displayed prominently at the front entrance. The project promotes Ojibwe language and culture through its use of symbolic motifs, traditional art, and culturally significant plantings.
ARI performed full design services for the project, including architectural, landscape design, interior design, mechanical & electrical engineering. We also assisted in bidding the project, and will soon move into the role of construction administration. The project is expected to be completed in early 2020.
